A Sunshine State of Mind: Boca Raton Resort & Club

Introduction to Boca Raton, Florida

Boca Raton is a coastal city located in Palm Beach County, Florida, roughly 20 miles north of Fort Lauderdale and 30 miles south of Palm Beach. The meaning of the city's name is often mistakenly interpreted as the literal Spanish translation of "Boca Raton" ("Rat's Mouth") but the origin is likely derived from the more informal translation, "Thieves Inlet," which refers to a nearby geographical inlet in the Biscayne Bay area.

You’re in Good Company

Boca Raton is the birthplace on pop songstress, Arianna Grande and is a homestead for the rich and famous. A few of the major names that have called Boca home include: Boston Red Sox owner John Henry, Rush Limbaugh, Jon Bon Jovi, Marilyn Manson, Maury Povich and yes, even our President, Donald Trump.

Annually, the 44,000 square foot facility attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to its galleries and programs that include permanent and traveling exhibitions, an educational gallery and an incredible sculpture garden.

Boca Raton is also home to the International Museum of Cartoon Art, which houses original pieces by some of world’s best known and loved animators and artists, like Charlie Brown creator, Charles Schulz and author of the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip, Bill Watterson.

The Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex, named for an indigenous hardwood tree with continuously shedding bark, is a 20-acre complex protecting one of the few surviving forest islands (also known as coastal hammocks) in South Florida.
